A Canadian Website Improving Canada’s Favorite Game

Richard Findlay

My name is Richard Findlay and my dot-ca website is www.bladetape.ca.

During a hockey game with some friends I thought, "There has to be a better way to tape a hockey stick."

Twelve years and several patent attempts later, there is BladeTape, peel-and-stick rubber panels that offer better grip and performance characteristics than traditional cloth hockey tape.

My dot-ca website, bladetape.ca, has been critical to the success of my business. After Ron MacLean announced my idea during a Hockey Night in Canada playoff broadcast, we were propelled to over $100,000 in online business in our first 18 months alone.

Bladetape.ca is the most important tool in my business today. It is more than just an online store. I use it daily to interact with customers, market BladeTape to a worldwide audience, post pictures, make announcements, answer questions, and publish testimonials and customer stories. Like the good people who support me, my dot-ca website is an integral and essential part of BladeTape’s success.

Saving Canadian Brides and Bridesmaids, One Click at a Time

Deb Viccars and Catherine Staveley

We're Deb Viccars and Catherine Staveley and our website is www.frocks.ca.

We use our dot-ca website, www.frocks.ca, to save unsuspecting bridesmaids from a fate of seafoam green taffeta, puffed sleeves and huge bows.

We both planned our own weddings, and have been bridesmaids many times. When searching for dresses on the web, we were always disappointed by the selection available. So, over a hearty glass of Shiraz one evening, we decided to open our own boutique and “save our sisters” from puffy bridesmaid's dresses.

We found some great small design houses and opened our retail business, Frocks Modern Bridesmaids, with a store in Richmond, British Columbia and an online presence that serves brides and bridesmaids around the world. Thanks to our dot-ca website, we have helped bridesmaids from as far away as Australia, England and Dubai!

We update our website constantly to show our current styles and include specific measuring instructions to ensure the perfect dress for customers who order from afar.

Frocks.ca is more than our domain name. It is a meeting place for our customers, a source of inspiration for brides, and an opportunity for sisters and friends around the world to sit back and chat, while enjoying their own glass of wine. Frocks.ca may not be saving the world, but it is making it a more enjoyable place to plan your wedding!
